You're Wasted

Feel your mystic mind rampaging through my head
Trying to understand the things you thought you said
You’re wasting my time tryin’ to stick by you
Understanding is hard when you know you’re through
You’d better quit, come on back to reality
I’ll help you every step, it’s not easy

You’re wasted, burning all the thoughts in your mind away
You’re wasted, precious time to you don’t mean anything
You’re wasted, killing’ every dream you might’ve had
You’re wasted, memories of a yesterday are never coming’ back

I never noticed that mistakes you made you make again
Thinking back at all the things you could’ve been
You think your something when you got it going on
It’s getting harder and your trying to move along
You better stop before your body gets to you.
You better listen to the things you need to do

You’re wasted, burning all the thoughts in your mind away
You’re wasted, precious time to you don’t mean anything
You’re wasted, killing’ every dream you might’ve had
You’re wasted, memories of a yesterday are never coming’ back

You’re lost; you won’t amount to anything.
I’m gone; you’re hopeless thoughts are damaging

Honky Tonk Zone

You pull up in your Harley
Thinkin’ I’m gonna be sorry.
Boy, you’ve got it all wrong.

You in your t-shirt with the torn off sleeves
Believing biker boy that you’re much tougher than me
Oh, go back where you belong…

You’re on the wrong side of the line
Leave your little bad news brothers behind
And come on in- if you dare the unknown
Whoa – yeah You’ve entered the honky tonk zone

Oh Little Mr. Preppy
Never try to test me
I always know what to say.

Your simple yuppie dress – Abercrombie and Fitch
Never owed a dime cause you’re daddy’s so rich
Oh preppy boy, get out of my way.

You’re on the wrong side of the line
Leave your little brand-name Beamer behind
And come on in- if you dare the unknown
Whoa – yeah You’ve entered the honky tonk zone

Oh Mrs. Johnson
Mom to Taylor Thompson
Life is such an organized mess

You’re selling Tupperwear and cleaning the house.
Running PTA and pleasing your spouse.
Oh please, it’s time for a rest!

You’re on the wrong side of the line
Leave your perfect mother mayhem behind
And come on in- welcome to your unknown
Whoa – yeah You’ve entered the honky tonk zone

Whoa – come on over – the wrong side of the line
Leave all your inhibitions behind
Take a litte trip to another place and time
Come on in – Welcome to the unknown
You’ve arrived – You’re still alive
You’ve entered the honky tonk zone

Girls – Get off the phone
And enter the honky tonk zone.

Dogs – grad your bone
And cross over to the honky tonk zone.

Everybody – you’re not alone
Come on now – take a vow – and stay wow in the honky tonk zone!!

My Time Has Come

A little girl playin' house
Wonderin' what life's all about
She wished and wished as years rushed by
When would it be her time to cry
Then, as she walked up the isle
She thought to herself and smiled

My time has come
It's now my turn
To take a chance
To live, to learn
To be a part of this life I know
I will grow
I'll have some fun
Oh Oh Oh Oh
My time has come

Life is hard for a mother of two
Who wanted to start her life anew
Prayin' that some day he'd go away
So she and her children would be okay
Then, he disappeared in the crowd
And she thanked dear God out loud

My time has come
It's now my turn
To take a chance
To live, to learn
To be a part of this life I know
I will grow
I'll have some fun
Oh Oh Oh Oh
My time has come

All it takes, All we need, All we want is to be
All we can in this is do
I'm so thankful my dreams are comin' true

It seems like a lifetime has passed me by
Unwilling to give up. Refusing to cry
Taking those chances, wanting to be
A best entertainer that people could see
I hopin' for this dream to one day come true
And the day that I make it, I'll say this to you...

My time has come
It's now my turn
To take a chance
To live, to learn
To be a part of this life I know
I will grow
I'll have some fun
Oh Oh Oh Oh
My time has come

You’ll Never Know

I can see you riding’ baby through my sky
Speeding through the bumps in the clouds, going way too high
Looking out for the sun to guide you, but it’s movin’ too slow.
Takin’ chances by reaching limits you’ll never know

Cause our world was heaven baby
Now my life is hell
Nothing here satisfies my needs,
but I won’t ever tell
For I’m incognito of a
Burning empty hole
And though I’m lost inside myself
Boy, you’ll never know

I capture ever movement as you hit the atmosphere
Spinning all the worlds around me, you’ve nothing to fear
Paradise encompasses the very core of you
Always willing to travel yonder to get a better view.

Cause our world was heaven baby
Now my life is hell
Nothing here satisfies my needs,
but I won’t ever tell
For I’m incognito of a
Burning empty hole
And though I’m lost inside myself
Boy, you’ll never know

Time is moving on…
The realm of yesterday is gone…
The air is empty baby
No one around to save me
Here I am lying numb in a wounded dawn…

Beauty...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
At least that's what some people say.
But you can be the judge of course
of what you see day to day.
It's not one's outward beauty
that stirs a sense of doubt,
but it's what you do for others
that brings one's beauty out.
Perhaps if you take a second glance
and look way deep inside,
You'll visualize a different view
one's deepest inner pride
It's sometimes second nature
to be most concerned of wealth
but if you take the time to look within
You may find beauty in yourself.

A Word About My World...

Today, my world is moving at a rapid pace. While I don’t have a lot about which to talk (which is surprising to those who know me!), I would like to comment on the emails I have been receiving lately. I’ve come to realize over the past few years that while we watch the news and get a first hand account of all the bad things going on in our world, I’ve discovered within the last few years that so many great people do exist. I run into them every day. For some reason I can’t help thinking about a day that has passed recently, and I do my very best to stay positive and upbeat, as it can become a sad day for me: December 7, 2005. Many think back to December 7, 1941, the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. I think of that as well. But I also know it to be a day in my personal history that’s very meaningful and memorable: December 7, 1970 is the day my brother was born, and just 26 years later he died of leukemia. May 25, 1988 my little boy, Andrew, was born and December 7, 1991, just 3 ½ short years after his birth he died after experiencing complications from open-heart surgery. Really I would like to say that I feel blessed to have had them both in my life, for they are the very reason I appreciate the many things in life that I can do: run, laugh, hope, see, etc., many of the opportunities I took for granted. I came to realize how important such little activities could be after spending time in several childrens' hospitals, visiting with children who were admitted, all of whom were so strong and courageous. How they caused me to rethink my thoughts: to not feel sorry for myself when I didn’t want to get up and go to work, for instance. I continue to think about those little ones, and I again feel so blessed…

I didn’t write this to make anybody feel sad; I wrote this to remind myself that life is too short to not go for my dreams or participate in endeavors I love, or tell the people who are important in my life just how important they are! Life is too short not to do many things! In the words of Tim Nichols as sung by Tim McGraw “Live Like You Were Dying” is certainly a place to start! …And that’s what I’m continuing to do…
